About nick prestia
Born and raised in sarasota, Florida. forged in the mountains of north Carolina.
nick has been around music since birth. brought up in a musical family, he started showing interest in playing at a young age. his parents, Robert and Terrie, were touring musicians playing the casino circuit across America. he spent some time during his elementary years on the road until his parents decided to stop touring and provide stability for nick and his sister, Sara. during this time, he developed core memories of the ups and downs that come along with being a career musician. even as a child, he found it to be a beautiful life. the art, the freedom, and the expressive nature of musicianship was the “Normal” for him and his sister. little did he know, he would spend his adult life carrying out the musical legacy that was engrained in him at adolescence.
at age 12, he unknowingly began a musical journey that would take him places he never imagined. as the youngest member of his church band, he started developing the sense of rhythm he is known for. he spent years refining himself as a drummer. not long after, he picked up a bass guitar for the first time. the bass was his fathers, Robert’s, primary instrument. Robert was always happy, and still is, to help nick when he is struggling with certain songs or techniques. During high school, nick was gifted his first guitar. a Black, Mexican made, fender Stratocaster. he would spend every day after school grinding away, doing his best to be as good as the guitar players he grew up around.
After high school, nick and his family moved away from Florida. they landed in the small town of Franklin, North Carolina. there is where nick would truly start to develop as a musician. though he always had a good ear for vocals, he had never considered himself a singer. after moving to a town as small as franklin, he realized quickly that the musician pool was even smaller than he expected. with less opportunity to work with other musicians, he made up his mind that he would start working as a solo artist if he wanted to keep playing. He performed his first show as a solo musician at a small pub called The Rathskeller in downtown franklin. the performance was well received, but most importantly, it caused a fundamental shift in nicks outlook on what he wanted out of his music. that night was the beginning an adventure that he is still on today.
using his fathers home studio, he put together his first album. being in the infancy of his music, he made just enough physical copies for his fans, friends and family at the time. his first album is not a perfect representation of where he is musically right now, so it will not be available on any streaming platforms. if you have any interest in hearing it, feel free to reach out to nick by email and he will get a copy to you.
In 2022, nick made a move to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he still currently resides. when he decided to move, he didn’t realize the impact it would have on his musical career. coming from a town with very limited musician and venues, he was happy to discover his new home had a larger music scene than he could have imagine. he is currently working as a professional musician with his solo performance as well as 3 bands. his band, Untethered Soul, is his outlet for original songs as well as cover music arranged in a progressive/funky/soulful style. He is the bass player for a Fleetwood Mac tribute called The Chain. he also plays bass in a tribute to yacht rock called Yacht Rock Radio.
His solo performance has gained him traction with its high energy and unique soulfulness. he captures the raw emotion of every word he sings while still creating an inspiring and inviting atmosphere.
